One woman in eight Mexican women will have breast cancer. It could be you, it could be your sister or any of my acquaintances. That's why MAMMOGRAPHY AND BREAST ULTRASOUND is a health priority, from the age of 35 - 40 (it all depends on your personal or family history).

If we have discomfort it is advisable to perform a basal mammogram (with ultrasound included) in which the data for comparison are established in the future. In Imágenes Diagnósticas de Mazatlán we have come up against cases of cancer in women between 18 - 20 years, for that reason we highly recommend its study in case of discomfort or alterations.

Individuals who have cancer in the direct family (ie a sister or mother who have had breast cancer) should begin screening at 5-10 years of age at the time of diagnosis of their affected family member.

Men who present with gynecomastia (growth of breasts), should be constantly examined for changes, 1% of breast cancer is in men. In case of finding an abnormality, they should be examined.

Early detection of cancer is the search for lesions in the body before they produce symptoms, discomfort, a palpable tumor, or invade other organs.

It is advisable to perform the breast palpation monthly after the 10th day of menstruation, seeing in the mirror and palpating to detect any abnormality or change.

Signs in breast that warrant an urgent study for being considered late in breast cancer:

  • Hardening

  • Boss

  • Slit, "pulled" appearance

  • Growing vein

  • Erosion or skin ulcer

  • Nipple squeezing

  • Redness or burning

  • Asymmetry

  • Unknown fluid (Pus, blood)

  • Holes

  • Appearance of orange skin

  • Internal package

Discovered in early stages, cancer is curable in 90% of cases. Mammography detects several types of lesions and the ultrasound detects another class of lesions.

Do not leave what really matters for the end!
